Children/Teen Counseling Groups

If you would like to register, make a referral, or have questions on any of the following groups call (605) 343-7262 Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time. Credit cards, insurance, and Title 19 accepted. Groups may be cancelled for insufficient enrollment.


Building Self-Reliant Teens

This on-going group is open to both boys and girls, ages 13 to 18 years old. Teens will focus on developing positive life skills and increase self-reliance in efforts to cope with a stressful world.

Discovery: A Therapy Group for Children

This seven-week program is designed for boys and girls, ages 8 to 11 years old. Through group activities and discussions, children with emotional or behavior problems will learn to better understand themselves and manage their relationships with others.

Boys and girls, ages 8 to 11 years old, with self-esteem problems, difficulty communicating their thoughts and feelings, and/or trouble getting along with others.

Divorce for Children: A group for children adjusting to separation or divorce

The group is for boys and girls in first to fifth grade that are having problems adjusting to their parents separation or divorce. During this eight-week group, children will receive both education on what is happening to themselves and their family, and therapy regarding emotional or behavioral problems associated to the new family arrangement.

Call for dates & times. Parents are invited and strongly encouraged to attend the first and last sessions.

Youth Anger Management Group

The group is open to young people, ages 12 to 17, who have problems managing anger and aggression. During ten weekly sessions group members will have a chance to develop an understanding of what causes them to feel angry and act aggressively; and to learn and practice skills to help them reduce the frequency and intensity of anger and aggression.

Bob is a Certified Social Worker and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, is an assistant Professor of Counseling as South Dakota State University. He has been in practice since 1977. His areas of expertise include counseling for children, adolescents, and adults regarding anger, anxiety, behavior problems, depression, stress, and emotional/relationship issues.
